The Chicago Shoreline Marathon Relay is a team race consisting of four, 3-mile legs.
Teams of up to four racers will complete this 12-mile race of four circuits from Leone Beach, around a buoy-marked course just off shore. Each team will have four paddlers (more if paddling tandems or quads) and each paddler will complete one 3-mile leg of the race.
Starting at 10:30 AM from Leone Beach, each participant will complete 4 laps around a buoy-marked course, then return to Leone where they switch paddlers for the second leg and so on.
Each leg must be paddled by a different crew. Crew #1 will begin at Leone Beach and paddle 4 laps around the buoy-marked course and then back to the beach. Once Crew #1 has touched the beach Crew #2 may launch. Crew #2 will then enter the water and repeat the process above. So on for Crew #3 & Crew #4 until all four crews have completed the course.
NOTE: Failure to complete the Relay by 4:00 PM will result in disqualification.
