Teams will complete this 12-mile race of four, 3-mile circuits from Leone Beach, around a buoy-marked course just off shore. Each team will have four paddlers (more if paddling tandems or quads) and each paddler will complete one 3-mile leg of the race.

Starting at 10:30 AM from Leone Beach, each participant/crew will complete 4 laps around a buoy-marked course, then return to Leone where they switch paddlers for the second leg and so on until all four crews have completed the course. .

The course is a loop covering approx. 8+ miles and running near shore from Leone Beach to Gillson Park Beach in Wilmette and returning to Leone  Beach.

All 2-Beach Race competitors will start at 11:00 AM at Leone  Beach.

The Gillson Park Beach check-in requires competitors to land their craft and check in with a designated race official before returning to the water to complete the return trip to Leone Beach.

This 18-mile/28km open water race will challenge the most experienced paddler.

Starting at 10:00 AM from Leone Beach on the north side of Chicago, competitors will race northward along the entire shoreline to Lloyd Beach in Winnetka.

New 2011 Course

In addition to shortening the course to 18 Mi/28K, this year due to the Chicago Air and Water Show, we’ve shifted the courses to go north rather than south as in years past. On the new course, competitors will be treated to a portion of the lake that has less motor boat traffic and scenic views of Chicago’s North Shore. And with the Air and Water Show nearby, you can expect to see jets, stunt planes and other Airshow activities.
